Afraid of public speaking? A survey has shown that public speaking is the number one fear for people, even ahead of death. What that means is that at a funeral, most people would rather be in the casket than give a eulogy! Maybe you would like to become a better leader. You have come to the right place (we couldn't help the clichι, although we know that the last car salesman you met also said the same thing before taking you for a "ride"). Whether you work in a corporate environment or from home, whether you are a student or retired, Toastmasters is the most effective, enjoyable and affordable way of gaining communication and leadership skills.
Beach Cities Toastmasters is a member club (a lively one, we must add) of Toastmasters International, a non-profit organization for the development and improvement of communication and leadership skills. We are a group of boisterous individuals, diverse in culture, age and, most importantly, public speaking skill levels. From the beginner whose feet tremble like there is a magnitude eight earthquake on the Richter scale to the expert who can write a speech that can inspire you to sky-dive in five minutes, we have them all. To top it off, we are a very supportive and encouraging bunch, because we have all been there and know that it takes time and practice to realize what President Roosevelt said, There is nothing to fear but fear itself.
